Project Safe Childhood: Woman Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

An Indiana woman was sentenced in a federal court in San Antonio to 300 months in prison for sexually exploiting a six-year-old child.
According to court documents, Veronica Solis, 35, of Valparaiso, produced child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in August and September 2019 with codefendant Gerald Talman Brann. An investigation showed that Solis and Brann sexually assaulted the child victim, recorded the sexual assaults using their cell phones, and then shared the CSAM with each other, as well as others. The two were arrested on March 14, 2023.
The couple's four children, ranging from 7 to 13-years-old, were removed from the home and placed into foster care, according to state police. Both Solis and Brann were extradited to Texas after investigators determined the couple were living in San Antonio at the time the alleged crimes were committed.
Solis pleaded guilty Dec. 5, 2023 and, on June 3, 2025, was sentenced by Judge Fred Biery.
Brann, who pleaded guilty to the same charge on Nov. 28, 2023, was sentenced in May 2024 to 360 months in federal prison by Judge Jason K. Pulliam.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas made the announcement. The FBI’s San Antonio and Indianapolis divisions investigated the case with assistance from the Indiana State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson prosecuted the case. This was among 3 other recent cases brought about by the Project Safe Childhood (PSC) initiative.
Paul William Flett, age 44, of Humbolt, Iowa, was sentenced in federal court in Sioux City, Iowa, on June 3, 2025. Flett pled guilty January 23, 2025, to one count to sexual exploitation of a child.Evidence in the case showed that Flett sent links and images of child pornography to underage girls and asked them to send images and videos of themselves to him.
Flett was sentenced to 180 months imprisonment, ordered to pay $3,600 in restitution and assessments, and ordered to serve a term of supervised release of 5 years following imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. Flett remains in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he can be transported to a federal prison.
In McAllen, Texas a 20-year-old Edinburg man, Roy Alvarez, has been sentenced 210 months for attempting to coerce and entice the production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from a Finnish minor. Alvarez pled guilty Oct. 9, 2024.
Benjamin Victor Houghton, 29, of Captain Cook, Hawaii was sentenced to 495 months in federal prison and a lifetime term of supervised release. The sum of restitution he must pay to the victims will be determined at a later date. He was convicted of sexually abusing two Oregon children and sharing videos of the abuse online.
