Abdul Kamara, 69, of Moreno Valley, a Riverside County school district employee was arrested for allegedly stealing over $750,000 worth of electronic devices and equipment from the district. The suspect was identified as according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Moreno Valley deputies began investigating reports of missing laptops from a school site in early March.
Following an investigation, Kamara, who was employed with the Moreno Valley Unified School District, was identified as the theft suspect.
On March 19, a search warrant was served at his home in the 26000 block of Regency Way, where deputies reportedly found a massive collection of stolen electronic devices and equipment belonging to the school district.
Some of the items found included hundreds of electronic devices, including the stolen laptops, and thousands of various pieces of equipment and technology. The total value of the recovered items was estimated at over $750,000.
Kamara was arrested for grand theft and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center where he remains in custody on $250,000 bail.
No further details were released as the investigation remains ongoing.
